Burkina Faso president calls for security boost after killings

At least 37 employees of a Canadian mining company were killed in an ambush in Burkina Faso near Boungou, the deadliest attack in the country in recent years.

Burkina Faso’s president says a national response is needed to improve security.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack but the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, or ISIS) and al-Qaeda have been active in the country in recent years.

Al Jazeera’s Charlotte Bellis reports.
